Brett Byrnes
Co-Founder & CEO
Brett Byrnes brings more than 25 years of experience supporting Department of War and Intelligence Community customers across complex acquisition, program-management, systems-integration, and technology-modernization efforts. Nearly half of his career has been dedicated to Intelligence Community missions, complemented by extensive work supporting the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. This breadth of experience gives Brett a cross-domain perspective on how operational needs, intelligence requirements, emerging technologies, acquisition realities, and industry capabilities must come together to produce meaningful mission outcomes.
Throughout his career, Brett has led multidisciplinary organizations, managed complex defense programs, shaped competitive strategies, and helped government and industry leaders navigate difficult technical and programmatic decisions. His background combines engineering discipline, business and financial perspective, and hands-on experience translating evolving mission needs into executable strategies and resilient system solutions.
Brett established NexDefense Solutions to provide customers with independent thinking, practical insight, and decision-ready support—helping organizations challenge assumptions, identify capability gaps, evaluate alternatives, reduce program risk, and position critical missions for long-term success.
